NeuroNurture FAQ
Why would someone participate in NeuroNurture?
NeuroNurture addresses mental health and wellness topics such as navigating stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD. emotional eating, insomnia, metabolic health, low back pain, etc. Participating in a group setting with individuals navigating similar symptoms or health conditions has been proven to yield better positive outcomes for the students' health and creating sustainable, lifestyle behavioral change. Also the safe space and nurturing nature of a heart centered community is quite empowering for all!
What is NeuroNurture?
NeuroNurture: The Foundation of Stress Resilience, addresses the needs of individuals who have specific health issues in common. This series is an 8-week healing pathway, meeting weekly as a group, as well as 4, 1:1 private sessions for bio-individuality purposes. These gatherings are taught in three parts: a group check-in, a short educational lesson and therapeutic practice. An intake and assessments are used throughout the process.
Can I progress to private Yoga Therapy guidance after participating in a NeuroNurture?
Yes, absolutely. This is a common transition for most students that would like a deeper and fully personalized approach where we explore a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual Assessment, detailed health history and co-creating a daily lifestyle plan on and off your mat.
What can you expect when working with a C-IAYT Clinical Therapist, in private therapy?
As an Optimal State Yoga Therapist, I will engage in a whole-person approach to develop an effective treatment plan:
-Health Intake: Gather detailed information about the client's medical history, lifestyle, and concerns.
-Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual Assessment: Evaluate the client's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects to understand their overall well-being.
- Physical Functions and Sensations: Assess functions, sensations, and posture to identify any limitations or imbalances.
- Breathing Patterns: Observe breathing patterns for abnormalities or restrictions.
- Mental Habits: Evaluate thought patterns, emotional responses, and cognitive processes to identify habits that may impact well-being.
- Daily Lifestyle Plan: Collaboratively develop a customized plan for lifestyle changes, including yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and self-care practices.
-Mutual Goal Setting: Set realistic and achievable goals based on the client's time, energy, and focus.
-Tracking and Adjusting: Monitor progress, track results, and make necessary adjustments to optimize outcomes over time.
Through this approach, yoga therapy aims to address physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions to support overall well-being and promote healing and growth.
Per the IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists), "Yoga therapy is of modern coinage and represents a first effort to integrate traditional yogic concepts and techniques with Western medical and psychological knowledge. Whereas traditional Yoga is primarily concerned with personal transcendence on the part of a "normal" or healthy individual, Yoga therapy aims at the holistic treatment of various kinds of psychological or somatic dysfunctions ranging from back problems to emotional distress."
Yoga Therapy focus / benefits:
- A person's entire lifestyle, not isolating their specific health condition.
- Healing through the five layers of the body - physical/somatic, breath, mental/intellect, 3- personality, emotional.
- A person's values, wants and beliefs as it relates to their healthy lifestyle intentions.
- Creating a highly specific treatment plan that is a living practice to modify when needed.
- Lots of "off the mat" work through self development, daily ritual & incorporating a growth mindset.
- The therapists' ability to understand and navigate their physical, mental or emotional health challenges
- Therapeutic movement through the lens of function over form.
- Providing the ancient tools and systems to empower a person to thrive in their life, whether they have a terminal disease or not.
- Small titrations of shifting the body, mind, and heart to a more desired and authentic state of being & living.
- Being rooted in compassion, empathy, love and connection & community.
- Supporting you to cultivate Eudemonia (human flourishing) and Salutogenesis (focusing on health & well-being vs disease). This enhances the quality of your life greatly, no matter what your health diagnosis.
Are the concepts, principles or tools used in the NeuroNurture healing pathway religious?
Note all Yoga Therapy and Ayurvedic tools, as well as any other ancient eastern wisdom I pass on to you in the NeuroNurture pathway , are not of any religious capacity. It is based in science, nature and rooted in love. I will meet you where your lifestyle values and beliefs are, so these ancient healing and modern neuroscience modalities are relevant to your day-to-day needs.
